'The Caribbean of the North'', Johnson Lake is known as one of the clearest and most beautiful lakes in the Province. But don't be fooled. The most popular fishing method on Johnson is trolling a fly. Adjoining Johnson Lake by way of a spawning channel is ''Little Johnson Lake'', perfect for endless action for float tubers, children and beginners. There are many shoals where the trout can be seen swimming in the clear water.The fish have thrived in the deep, clear waters - 1.5 to 2 lb. Kamloops Rainbow Trout are common, with 3 to 5 pounders waiting for the presentation of that special fly or lure. Due to the limestone in the area , the lake attains the colour of the Caribbean Ocean and visibility into the water is well over 50 feet. At 3, is approximately 200 feet at its deepest, it is over 5 kms. long, 800 feet elevation, and is unique among lakes in BC. Water to the lake is supplied by the surrounding underground springs and winter snow pack. there are some large ones in here too!! And the fish are clean & delicious.
